The city of Patna in Bihar is the second largest city in the Eastern side of India after Kolkata. The city is the stronghold of Bihar and is growing steadily every year. It is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. It was established in 450 AD by the king of Magadha. In those times it was known as Pataliputra.

This used to be the centre of learning and the fine arts. This city also has been witness to a number of poets and scholars who were gems and are stilled revered. This city is situated at the southernmost tip of the river Ganges. The city is also the centre of the Jains and the Buddhists due to its past.

When you enter the city of Patna by air, Patna airport is the proud entity that welcomes you first. It is known as Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport. The airport has a lot of domestic destinations across India and hence is deemed as the 21st busiest airport in India.

In 2009 it was deemed as the airport with the most growth due to the sudden spike in the number of passengers domestically travelling to Patna. Patna airport, due to its busy schedule and heavy footfall is going to be the precursor to the first international airport in Bihar. The airport is slowly expanding and is giving way to more routes across India. There are not many facilities provided within the airport but they do provide transport to and from the airport. The airport also provides chartered flights and helicopter services.
